Rand Water Selects Faritec as EDMS Implementation Partner
Progressive, self-funding water utility Rand Water has selected Faritec as
its Electronic Document Management System implementation partner. Faritec is a
JSE-listed IT services and solutions company.
The IBM FileNet product was selected by Rand Water, as the backbone of Rand
Water's ECM solution. Lebohang Moloi, Project Manager of Rand Water, says the
company has tasked Faritec with implementing and customising IBM FileNet, a
unified content, process and compliance environment which offers maximum
operational flexibility, accelerates application deployment.
Faritec's Integrated Business Solutions Project Manager, Rob Zimmermann says
the entire project centres around availability. "In addition to making
information available to people, Rand Water is committed to achieving full
compliance wherever necessary," he says. "By encapsulating intellectual property
into its knowledge base using IBM FileNet, Rand Water is able to make the
necessary information accessible, while simultaneously implementing processes
which make it more agile in its response to change."
IBM FileNet combines content, process and connectivity to automate and
streamline all records-based activities, eliminate unnecessary end-user
participation, enforce compliance, and create business advantage through a
compelling return on investment.
In addition, IBM FileNet infuses content management applications with process
management. Launched by business events, collaborative content or records
management applications can trigger additional workflows. With IBM FileNet, Rand
Water will benefit from cleanly automated processes which can change as-and-when
business conditions change.
Rand Water is committed to wise resource use, waste minimisation and an
ongoing drive to conserve the environment. Its mission is to provide sustainable
water services that will satisfy the current and future social, economic and
cultural requirements of all who reside in the Gauteng area as well as other
areas outside the Gauteng region such as parts of Mpumalanga, the North West and
the Free State.
"We understand the importance of regulatory compliance and the need to
enforce electronic document management policies and standards via process and
technology rather than people," Moloi says. "Our objective is for Rand Water's
business electronic document and enterprise content storage services to be
driven by structured, time-tested and repeatable processes which are backed by
sophisticated and scalable automation"
"Rand Water has every confidence in Faritec's ability to help us address
today's new electronic document and enterprise content management challenges by
implementing a solution which will manage the processes and content involved in
compliance. ," concludes Moloi.
